The Orlando City Stadium is the cornerstone of the tremendous historic revitalization efforts of the Parramore District in the city of Orlando. It is a 25,000 plus seat multi-sport and entertainment facility with Its primary function being the home of Major League Soccer’s Orlando City Lions. Andersen Interior Contracting was brought on board in the spring of 2016 and given a nine month window in order to have the job completed before Opening Day 2017. Our scope of work included both interior and exterior framing, all drywall, insulation, and stucco work. All press areas, stair towers, lower level exterior walls and many exterior features were done in heavy gauge framing. Many exterior walls were balloon framed with 50 foot lengths. The substrate for our engineered framing was over 100,000 square feet of gypsum exterior sheathing, followed by 100,000 square feet of peel and stick. This project is one of few projects in the state of Florida of this magnitude to use “thermochromex” type stucco. This particular stucco type product is a limestone with ultra-high performance cladding that can be applied to virtually any substrate and provide a virtually maintenance free finish that is permanent, breathable and weatherproof. This magnificent facility is clothed in the teams’ purple and gold colors on over half a million square feet of drywall, with dozens of suites, bars, lounges, kitchens, offices and luxury locker rooms rigorously completed with the highest degree of precision and on schedule in order for the Lions to open up their new home with a victory on March 5, 2017.
